Fall Preview

There have been little sneak previews of the upcoming fall weather lately; I mean bundle up in a sweater, weather.  Now that it's August, the summer days are dwindling down. To me summer is still going strong, despite the fact that I go back to school in less than a month, and that means getting Ralph's on a daily basis.

Wedding Attire

This past weekend I had the honor of attending a beautiful wedding to the most deserving couple I know, my cousin Richard and his wife Jude. Everything from the weather to their first dance was amazing. For months I've had this dress by Dolce Vita and shoes from Steve Madden planned out and finally got to wear it; turns out it looked as good on as it did in my mind. Long story short, I love this outfit almost as much as I love weddings.

A Bite to Eat & A Bit of Leg

A few weeks ago Newsday featured an article about the best burgers on Long Island. Since then my dad and I have ventured to a restaurant every week to try one of the listed burgers. This past week we went to the Main Street Cafe for our weekly burger adventure. Two down, about seven to go; the search continues for, what we think is, the best burger on Long Island.

Red Hot

Yesterday's 93 degree weather was unbearable and since going out to dinner naked is frowned upon, I opted for this red romper by Dolce Vita (seen here in a print). It's loose fit made it ever so easier to feel a breeze and mask the killer heat. At least I don't look sweaty... major win!
Stay cool!

Mantra Monday

When life gets you down, salt water is the cure for anything. The past fews days my family has been at my house from out of state; and while I'm so happy that they're here, my anxiety is through the roof. There's just something about not being able to sleep in your own bed that makes you feel a little off. I've also in the past few days experienced the wonderful effects of salt water. The heat has been killer but running is so important for overall health and well-being that no matter my mood I've been running everyday. You'd be surprised how great you can feel after a run; even if you're drenched in sweat. And then there are tears. It happens to all of us; whether at the end of The Notebook or when you're super stressed. Tears may make our eyes puffy and ruin our makeup but there is something so refreshing to just let it out and cry a bit. Lastly, there is my favorite form of salt water; the sea. One of the greatest pleasures of living on Long Island and the best way to spend a summer day. Yesterday I went to the Hampton's, where the water was cold and the sun was shining bright. Any anxiety I had was washed away by the waves; it was the most perfect day. I may not know who Isak Dinesen is, but she is right... "The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears and the sea."

Chocolate Moose Tracks Ice Cream ^^

Happy 4th of July! Today I'm celebrating Independence Day like most Long Islanders; at the beach, followed by a backyard barbecue and watching fireworks. I hope you all have a great holiday!

Americana

Independence Day, or the Fourth of July as many of us call it, is right around the corner and what better way to get in the "Americana" spirit then with a patriotic red, white and blue outfit. Strangely enough I pretty much don't own anything red, but that's where a red bandana and nail polish comes in handy.
