Denim Addition

Dress, Sunnies and Earrings: Forever21, Jacket: Abercrombie

For the past month I've been looking for the perfect denim jacket. After not much success, my friend suggested Abercrombie. I hadn't shopped there in years but figured I'd give it a try and what do you know my search was complete. Not only did I find a jacket I liked and could afford but it was also on sale, so I could really afford it. Thankfully the weather makes it impossible to wear it everyday; but for those chilly summer nights, it's my go to piece. Needless to say you can be expecting a denim on denim outfit in the near future.

Crochet Craze

Top: Dolce Vita, Shorts: American Apparel (similar), Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs

Tuesday was one of those days where it was good and bad all at the same time. The 'good' was that I got to spend a few hours at the beach with my cousin. The 'bad' was that it was extremely humid and hot; and sand & sweat don't mix well together. Even though we were there for only a short while, every minute counts when it comes to sun exposure. Luckily I didn't burn but I will say I'm looking slightly darker than I did before.  What better way to show off a tan than with a white crochet top?! Especially one with an open back, bell sleeves and the perfect amount of coverage to still show off some skin. Summer is just beginning and these past couple of days have been a great start.

Camouflage

Shirt: Truly Madly Deeply, Jeans: BDG, Shoes: Dolce Vita, Glasses: Ray-Ban

As summer draws near, temperatures continue to rise and with that humidity. Everyday there is a chance of rain; everyday my hair curls uncontrollably and everyday deciding what to wear becomes more difficult. Granted, every morning I have trouble getting ready (I probably go through four outfits before settling on one), but the rain makes it worse. Normally on a rainy day I opt for a legging/sneaker ensemble; however the other day, though it drizzled all day, I decided to change my ways and put some effort in.   One of the benefits of interning at Dolce Vita is that when shoe samples are not put into production I get them. That being said, I got these adorable suede booties recently and couldn't wait until the Fall to break them in. I paired them with my favorite pair of classic black skinny jeans and an oversized camo t-shirt I borrowed from my friend. Nothing like a simple, easy look on a dreary day and a pony tail to top it all off.

Mantra Monday

I am a person that makes lists about everything. Things I need to do, things I want to do; if I can make a list out of it I will do it. Lists help me stay organized and focused. They are a way to get things done without being stressed or anxious. Lists, however, can also be fun. The most common list I'm sure you've all heard of is the bucket list. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary,
a bucket list is: a list of things that one has not done before but wants to do before dying.
My summer vacation starts tomorrow and typical me made a summer bucket list or rather a summer to do list. I usually set high standards for summer, the phrase "this is going to be the best summer ever" comes to mind, but every year it usually ends up being an average summer; working most days and going to the beach on the occasion it isn't raining. This summer however I have my list and I have every intention of crossing each item off of it.
You know all those things you've always wanted to do? You should do them; and I plan on it. Theres no better time than now to do the things you want to do.
Here are some of the things on my list; what's on yours?
1. make a giant slip and slide
2. camp on the beach
3. throw a party
4. get an instant camera and take it everywhere to make a summer photo diary
5. go to the Mattituck Strawberry Festival
6. bike around Long Island

Last Friday Night

Steak, potatoes and broccoli robe... YUM!

The Tribeca Rooftop was amazing! The city skyline was picture perfect.

Last friday night, not to be confused with the Katy Perry song, was my school's Semi-Formal. My friends and I were of coarse in attendance and my boyfriend even came along too. I was lucky enough to have gone to two proms, my boyfriend's and my own, and would go to prom again in a heartbeat; same with my friends. Needless to say we were beyond excited for Semi-Formal. Since Semi-Formal is well, semi formal, I opted for a short white dress from Nasty Gal with shoes from Zara. Upon arriving at the Tribeca Rooftop, we walked the red carpet and was greeted with a photo-op; the theme was "A Night In Hollywood". The venue was gorgeous. Every wall was encompassed with windows with views of Manhattan. Dinner was scrumptious; same with dessert. Their was a DJ and a photo booth. I was probably a little too excited for the photo booth but my boyfriend is the best and indulged in my obsession as I continuously dragged him into the booth throughout the night. All in all I had the greatest night with some of the people that matter most to me. Great memories were made that I will never forget, and we have the pictures to prove it. Semi Formal was better than I could have imagined and we are already talking about next year's event.

Mother's Day Photo Diary

This Monday goes to my mother. She is best friend and I don't know what I would do without her. No two people are more similar than us two. Not only do we look insanely alike but we have the same personality; which causes some fighting here and there. When I'm at school I talk to her at least 5 times a day on the phone and recently taught her how to FaceTime. My mother is hardworking, beautiful and inspiring. "All that I am and hope to be I owe to my mother" - Abraham Lincoln. Her advice gets me through tough days. Without my mother I would probably be curled up in a ball crying somewhere. I can always count on my mom for a good talk, a great meal and lifelong friend to spend hours at the beach with. Love you Mama!

Mantra Monday

Today is a new day; a new beginning to a new week. Back to school and back to work after two days of relaxation. If I asked, I would assume that majority of people hate Mondays. I do too. I don't want to go to class and I especially don't want to get out of bed; but we all have choices. We can choose to start off the week on a negative note. We can procrastinate and complain and be miserable or we can just take on the day. Choose to smile! Choose to embrace the day! Choose to be happy! Every morning you wake up is a gift and everyday you complete is one day closer to something better (the weekend/summer vacation). Is there something you're looking forward to? Start a countdown. You will be excited for each and every day that comes your way because you will be getting that much closer to something of anticipation. I have so many countdowns: 4 days until semi-formal, 15 days until the end of the semester, etc... And if you still aren't a fan of Monday just look how cute this dog is... that will definitely make you smile.

Tropical Print in a Not So Tropical Place

Romper: Dolce Vita, Shoes: Aldo (here in pink)

I may or may not have jumped the gun with the whole warm weather thing. I woke up yesterday, excited for it to be May, put on this amazing romper and went to school. It looked so sunny and warm from my window but it wasn't until i stepped outside that i noticed the breeze; the rather chilly breeze. So there I was in a romper and sandals; bare arms and legs, walking through the city streets while everyone else was wearing pants. The few wearing shorts were even smart enough to also have been wearing a sweater. Me; not so smart. I bared the chill for some photos before I walked rather quickly back to my room a few blocks away. The weather is much warmer today but needless to say I will be packing a cardigan into my bag from now on just in case.

Spring into Fashion

Shorts: Dolce Vita, Tank: Lucca Couture, Jacket: Silence & Noise, Shoes: BDG, Bag: Nanette Lepore
And if you ever wear a shirt where your bra shows, make sure to get this one from Free People

Finally; it's May!! I don't think I have been more excited for this day to come and for all the warm weather with it. May, to me, means many great thing...
The end of school. The approach of summer.
Now don't get me wrong; I love New York City, but there is nothing better than being home. I cannot wait to drive around town with all my windows down, playing Bob Marley's "Could You Be Loved". To ride my bike to the local beach and have my friends over for Sunday barbecues by the pool. I still have a few days left of the semester, but until then I plan on enjoying the sunshine with my friends. Yesterday, during an attempt to find a maxi skirt meeting my requirements, I stopped by Herald Square.  The weather was perfect enough to wear a light jacket and not be hot, and not cold enough to just wear a tank.
Happy May Everyone!
