Mantra Monday

Nothing ever comes easy the first time around; a majority of life is all about trial and error. Over the course of our lives our thought processes are changing. The ideas we had when we were children are not the same as those that we have now. One thing that hasn't changed is the ambition within ourselves. We constantly try and 'do' to achieve those ideas and make them come to life. Our ideas and ambitions give us the push to never give up.
Never give up and the success will come.

Black, Blue and Blonde

Coat and Flats: Dolce Vita, Jeans: American Eagle, Sunnies: Ray Ban

It's crazy how a simple, yet drastic, change can alter your entire mood and appearance. I'm always leaning towards certain pieces in my wardrobe on a daily basis. We all have our go-to outfits that we can all rely on but since dying my hair I've found this new urge to try new things and dress semi differently while still portraying my own style. Little changes can turn into big changes and that's how we are forever creating ourselves to be the person we aspire to be. For now my all black ensembles will share the spotlight with some blue; but how knows, maybe I'll be wearing bright colors and patterns by the time this snow melts.

Show Some Love

Although Valentine's Day is a fabricated holiday, it is still nice to celebrate and share with the one (or ones) you love, doing the things you love. Over the past 5 years my boyfriend and I have experienced both the highs and the lows on this lovey dovey day. One year he got me sushi and scattered rose petals everywhere; and another I tripped, fell, cut my hand open and shattered my phone (don't try running in wedge sneakers). This year however we will be ice skating at The Standard hotel  followed by drinks at the Biergarten. No matter what your plans are for today, whether you've got a date or are hanging out with friends, I hope you all feel loved today.

Marisa

Daisy Girl

Over the weekend, Marc Jacobs had a pop-up tweet shop promoting his fragrance, Daisy. There was no money required; you simply had to hashtag #MJDaisyChain and you became applicable to win Marc Jacobs prizes as well as perfume. (I got the cutest little bottle of Daisy perfume) At the event there was a DJ as well as a station to get your nails painted with Marc Jacobs nail polish and another station set up for photo ops. If it wasn't still winter I would've loved to wear some denim cutoffs and espadrilles; but unfortunately I have a few months before this outfits. So instead I wore a Free People sweater, Cheap Monday jeans and my Docs. And of coarse I felt it more than necessary to wear this delicate daisy headpiece to tie it all together.

Mantra Monday

The other day I went outside my comfort zone, like way outside my comfort zone. For over 21 years I had never done anything to my hair; besides the occasional straightening. Over the weekend I made the bold and full fledged move to dye my hair blonde. While I'm no longer a brunette I've still got some of my 'roots' (pun intended) showing; I went for the looks of Kim KardashianChrissy Teigen and Ciara. For some reason this time of year requires a personal change. Last year I cut my hair short and this time around I decided for something drastic but that could also be changed back immediately if necessary; I could always dye my hair back at any given time. I was super nervous but I knew that if I didn't go outside my comfort zone than I would never know if in fact I look good as a blonde. One of the beauties and benefits of life is that we get to create who we want to be. I wanted to know how I'd look blonde, so I went and did it. And this applies to all aspects of life. Life begins outside of your comfort zone, so why settle when you can step outside and live it.

Mantra Monday

One of the difficult tasks of blogging while also working and going to school is planning great outfits for days that I can actually get photographed wearing them. My best friend Sarah is my go-to camera girl, so we always try to make our schedules align to allow for some blogging time. It's not that I don't always dress fashionable, but some days I just have to throw on the leggings and sneakers. I saw this photo a few days back and totally related with it. It's true; I definitely have that irrational fear of wasting a good outfit on an insignificant day. Sometimes I'll wake up with this great outfit idea in my head, I'll put it on and then the day will suck. The only good thing is that I can always just wear that same outfit another day. Good outfits should not just be for significant days. Maybe the significance of the day is wearing a great outfit that makes you feel good about yourself.

Put on a good outfit and make today a significant day;
