Mantra Monday

Straight, simple and to the point. Fill your head with what's important and be done with all the rest. Get rid of all the nonsense and bullshit drama. Forget about all the things in your head that can cloud your happiness and cloud your life. Those things don't deserve the time spent thought about them. Save the space in your head for the important thoughts; the memories that matter most.

Fall on Top, Summer on Bottom

Yesterday I had an identity crisis. What do you wear when technically it's Autumn but it's 72 degrees out? For me, it meant a leather jacket-sweater combo with denim cutoffs and a pair of vans. Usually I'd end up sweating from the jacket and freezing because of my bare legs but I was actually quite content. As much as I loved this outfit I think I'm finally done with shorts. As long as the weather stays chilly, I'll be wearing pants and boots from here on out.
Stay tuned!

Jump Around

It's been a busy week between school and work. Coterie took place at the Javitz Center the past few days and it was exhausting, but also great to see all of our buyers and work with them again. The main focus for this show was our Spring 2014 collection, which is actually where this jumpsuit is from. Normally I don't dress outside of my comfort zone (I can't say that I wear jumpsuits on a regular basis), but when my bosses had me try it on it fit like a glove. And as you all should know by now; white and black are my go to colors of choice when getting dressed. Plus, what better way to sell the product than by acting like a human hanger at a trade show. I paired it with a leather jacket for a perfect
 Summer meets Fall look.
Enjoy your weekend!

Mantra Monday

Balance is difficult in any aspect of life. From balancing your professional life and your love life to diving equal time to both work and relaxing. Most importantly is the emotional and mental balance that is needed to be at peace with the life your in. I personally focus too much on the future. Sometimes that's a good thing, like when planning a career path or setting a goal for yourself, but other times not so much. By focusing on the future and focusing on the uncontrollable. As much as some of us may wish we could control what the future has in store for us, the anxiety and stress and unease in incomparable to the plain and simple joy of living in the present. Some days this will seem easier than others; but when you're enjoying life day by day, you are sure to have an enjoyable future as well.

Patterned Overlay

Usually I try to avoid the chaos of Herald Square's Forever 21. The mass amount of people make it hard to navigate the store and I always end up leaving before even trying clothes on. The other day, however, was a success. I have been looking for a plain white spaghetti-strap crop top for awhile now; turns out I'm either looking in the wrong places or it is just impossible to find. Although this tank isn't cropped; I found the neckline flattering and easy to wear with pretty much everything. Since, for some reason, we all have a tendency to spill things when wearing white, I bought two and BAM! it only cost $4. The flannel shirt is also from the store, and what better way to start off the Fall season then by stocking up on comfy flannels combined with any outfit and perfect for any weather.
Happy Thursday!

Marisa

Road Trip Diary: Philadelphia

This past Friday I traveled the two and a half hour drive down to Philadelphia where the Free People, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie home offices are located; which I've always wanted to visit. I follow the Free People blog regularly and from the pictures they post, I knew it would be a place I'd love. Luckily enough I have two of the most amazing bosses ever, who took me with them to good ol' Phillie. To say the trip was exhausting would be an understatement. But work aside, I had an amazing day meeting with buyers and enjoying everything the offices had to offer. Everywhere you looked were employees with their adorable dogs and people riding bikes around the campus like area. And while I love New York City/Long Island, I would move here in a heartbeat.
Enjoy your week!

Marisa

End of Summertime [Sadness]

This past Monday was Labor day and we all know what that means; the end of summer.
 *Insert tears here*
The past few months have been filled with fun and sunshine that made memories that will last a lifetime. This summer I experienced that greatness that is called Ralph's Italian Ices, thanks to my best friends who work there. I probably tried almost every flavor and can say without hesitation that Peanut Butter Cookie Dough is my favorite. Nothing was better than seeing a picturesque sunset on the beach; whether while doing yoga or drinking a cocktail. From the pool to the beach I took every opportunity that came my way to soak up the sun. Getting a tan during the day (when not working) and partying with friends at night is the epitome of a perfect summer. And of course my summer would not be complete without the birth of my new baby cousin, Leah. I am so in love with her and am so happy she was born before I left for school; although she is now my excuse to go home on weekends.
Yes I'm sad summer is over, but "what good is the warmth of summer; without the cold of winter to give is sweetness"- John Steinbeck
