Back to School

School is finally in session and I'm surprisingly happy to be back. As much I'd rather lay on the beach or relax in bed than be in class, there is something about having a set schedule everyday that I love and need. This week is "Welcome Week" at FIT where there are tons of freebies, activities and overall fun stuff, including a photo booth which my best friend and I took full advantage of. I am so looking forward to the late September chill but figured I might as well enjoy the heat while it lasts. I am horrible at gauging what to wear based on the day's weather and simply looking out my room window never seems to work out in my favor. I was a little hot walking the city streets yesterday but for this outfit it was worth it; even though the jacket I was wearing (not pictured) was removed immediately upon exposure to the heat. Long story short: it was a great day to have worn, what was in my opinion, a great outfit.

Mantra Monday

My junior year of college begins today! Exciting? Yes. Daunting? Yes. 

"You can never be overdressed or overeducated"

Then there's the Fashion Institute of Technology; a place where dressing to impress and being well educated go hand in hand.

Mantra Monday

So I woke up in a bad mood this morning. It's gorgeous out and unfortunately today I won't be able to enjoy the sunshine; but that's life right? 

"Think Happy be Happy" is the mantra for today and for any day when you're just not in the best of moods. Sometimes things don't always go the way you planned but that doesn't mean the day won't be a great one.

Date-ish Night

Yesterday was the oh so popular Taco Tuesday. For the couple two years, I would say, my friends and I have gone out to dinner at Zim Zari every Tuesday to enjoy the best $2 tacos imaginable. Tacos so good that we drive a half hour just to get there and wait over an hour just to be seated (primarily because there are never less than 10 of us together). Considering last night was not just my boyfriend and myself, I'm not sure if it was considered to be a "date night" but never-the-less I enjoyed great food among the company of great people. I'm always cold, especially in an air-conditioned restaurant, so I paired simple cuffed blue jeans with a tube top and classic white vans.... and was still cold. Maybe soon I'll learn and remember to bring a sweater/jacket with me whenever I go out.

1 Shirt, 2 Ways

The past three days I spent working a trade show at the Javitz Center with Dolce Vita. One of the perks of working the show was being able to wear some of the new collection to show off to buyers. I wore this striped top two of the days; each displaying a different look. The first day I wore it with a pastel, almost watercolor looking, skirt and wedges. For me that's as girly as it's going to get. The second day I wore an amazing pair of leather overalls; which is totally me. Simple, black and white outfits are basically what make up my wardrobe; and this shirt is a major staple for the upcoming season.

Mantra Monday

Yesterday's tomorrow is today; so why haven't you done the things you said you would do? I'm lazy and I procrastinate. Yes, they are horrible excuses but we are all victim to it. Some days, or rather most days, I wake up with the intention of running. Seven to eight times out of ten it doesn't happen and I'll say to myself, "Oh tomorrow I'll run". Does it happen? Ehhh, sometimes. Other times the same scenario will occur but in relation to cleaning or finally crossing off those last few items on your to-do list. In greater context some of you might be procrastinating a major life change, whether it's asking for a raise or putting in your two weeks notice. We are the only ones in control over what we do and how we feel and we are the ones to blame for our motivation level or lack there of. If you want to see change and improvement, make it happen. If you want something done, then get it done. No excuses, today is THE day.

Fall Preview

There have been little sneak previews of the upcoming fall weather lately; I mean bundle up in a sweater, weather.  Now that it's August, the summer days are dwindling down. To me summer is still going strong, despite the fact that I go back to school in less than a month, and that means getting Ralph's on a daily basis.

Wedding Attire

This past weekend I had the honor of attending a beautiful wedding to the most deserving couple I know, my cousin Richard and his wife Jude. Everything from the weather to their first dance was amazing. For months I've had this dress by Dolce Vita and shoes from Steve Madden planned out and finally got to wear it; turns out it looked as good on as it did in my mind. Long story short, I love this outfit almost as much as I love weddings.
